Day 1: Antananarivo - Maroantsetra
A team on site welcomes you upon arrival at the aerodrome.
Transfer to your hotel for the night.
Day 2: Maroantsetra -Cap Masoala
In the morning, transfer by boat to Cap Masoala, in a small, warm ecolodge located on the tip of Tampolo, halfway between Maroantsetra and Cap Masoala. The place is about 40 km from Maroantsetra, and is only accessible by boat, during a crossing of about 45 minutes in a covered fast hull.
Day 3: Trekking Masoala
After breakfast, we hike to Cap Masoala. Surrounded by tropical vegetation, we hike between the coast with turquoise blue lagoons and a dense forest that borders the marine park on kilometers of beach.
Day 4: Trekking pirate village
In the morning, we set off for an easy day of hiking, with no elevation gain, between the coastal forest and the beach, to reach the village of Rantranavoana. We cross the mouths of several small rivers, which join the sea at the beach. Swimming is therefore possible in many places, in fresh water.
Day 5: Antalaviana
Breakfast at the local lodge in Rantranavoana. The trail runs along the rice fields and then enters the dense lowland forest. This is the most intense stage of the circuit! We cross about fifteen torrents with water up to our ankles or knees, sometimes more depending on the rainfall. With a bit of luck, we will see lemurs (Red Vari or Varecia ruba) and very small “brookesia” chameleons. Passing from one valley system to another, we arrive at a valley system that leads us to a dream beach, not far from Antalaviana, which we reach by a coastal path.
Day 6: Antalaviana
Day 7: Antalaviana - Ambodiforaha
In the morning, we set off for an easy day of hiking, with no elevation gain, between the coastal forest and the beach, to reach the village of Ambodiforaha. We cross the mouths of several small rivers, which join the sea at the beach. Swimming is therefore possible in many places, in fresh water.
Day 8: Visit Masoala NP
Early in the morning, we leave for a naturalist circuit in the primary forest where we will have the opportunity to observe “red-tailed lemurs” (varecia rubra) in the trees of the Masoala park. Ornithologists are passionate about the Prevost’s Eurycera which nests in this area.
Day 9: Ambodiforaha - Maroantsetra by boat
Forest circuit to discover the fauna and flora of the island, special mention for the “Uroplatus” and the bands of lemurs that approach very close to the camp.
The beach of the Dutch has a nice surprise: rocks engraved in the 17th century by the navigators of the spice route. The setting is magnificent.
After lunch, continue by boat to Maroantsetra in the afternoon.
Day 10: Maroantsetra - Antananarivo by flight
Transfer to Maroantsetra airfield.
Flight to Antananarivo
Upon arrival in Antananarivo, our team will welcome you at Ivato airport and transfer you to your hotel near the airport.
