Day 1 : ANTANANARIVO

Reception at the airport

Tour of Lake Ivato, airport, croc farm, Anjomakely, lake dike  20 km 

 Ivato is one of the peripheral areas of Antananarivo that have experienced rapid development, mainly through the creation of various industries that have fostered commercial activities.

Day 2 : ANTANANARIVO – MANTASOA

 Mantasoa is 68 km from Antananarivo

Once out of the city, the roads become much quieter and for most of the day, you will be cycling on good tarmac roads, undulating through villages and lush green rice paddies. You will then come to a dirt road section, starting with a few km of cobblestone. It will mostly be uphill for a few km until you reach the top, where there are great views of the surroundings of Tana before retracing your route back to the main road and continuing on towards Lac Mantasoa.

Day 3 : MANTASOA – MORAMANGA

You find the last 15 kilometers to join the route. You will cross landscapes dotted with rice fields and huts.

A small detour in the Mandraka reserve, Madagascar Exotic, is essential to discover Malagasy biodiversity. The reserve is 12 km after the junction for Mantasoa. Lovers of Malagasy fauna and flora will be spoiled by this unique site on the island. Many of the species present, fauna or flora, are endemic. Chameleons, butterflies and insects are scattered everywhere in the middle of the vegetation. The place is also home to crocodiles, turtles, snakes and it is ideal for observing the sifakas, lemurs characteristic of the island.

After a picnic lunch, you will cycle to the town of Moramanga.

Day 4 : MORAMANGA – ANDASIBE 

In the morning after the breakfast you will visit the Museum of the National Gendarmerie.

In the town of Moramanga, you will find a Gendarmerie Museum, the result of the work and passion of a young gendarme. You will see many costumes, archives, articles, etc. Moramanga is also home to a monument commemorating the 1947 anti-colonialist uprising, which claimed many victims.

The next stretch is gently undulating. You will cycle through the village of Andasibe then the final few kilometres area beautiful dirt road trail through the forest to your overnight stay.

Day 5 :ANDASIBE 

You will begin with a very early morning breakfast and cycle a few km to the Andasibe-Mantadia National Park.

 You will change into your walking shoes for a guided walking tour around the forest to visit the Indri Lemurs and enjoy the flora and fauna. The particularity of Andasibe is first of all the morning song of the Indri Indri, the largest of the lemurs: it offers a gentle awakening and arouses curiosity. It is an unmissable place in the region and deserves a closer look. About eleven species of lemurs live there alongside varieties of birds such as parrots and falcons. In addition, the flora is exquisitely beautiful thanks to the presence of majestic orchids.

After this visit you will cycle to the hotel for a good dinner and a sweet night.

Day 6 : ANDASIBE – RANOMAFANA

 You will rejoin your bike and head for the main road. You will cycle on the road with some long gradual uphills and downhills with some stunning panoramic views over the surrounding hills. The scenery changes again and your route is lined with lush banana and mango plantations, lychee trees and the endemic Ravinala palm, whose enormous fan-like leaves are used for roofing in the area. The air becomes noticeably hotter as you descend. After lunch, you will cycle a short distance to the small town of Ranomafana Est

Day 7 : RANOMAFANA – MANAMBATO

you will pedal up to the small hamlet of manambato, a journey passing through brickaville these villages, the banana plantations. Manambato is a small corner of paradise located on the road to Tamatave. The site is of incomparable beauty, one of the most bewitching on the Malagasy east coast. A stay in Manambato rhymes with beach, sun and nature. Manambato is a locality located on the edge of Lake Rasoabe.

Day 8 : MANAMBATO – TOAMASINA

You will cycle back to the main road, this time uphill and on a poor-quality dirt road. the road is mostly flat, straight and lined with lychee trees and bamboo forests. As the day progresses, the road begins to gently undulate. You are now deep in the lush eastern plains of Madagascar as you cycle through palm tree plantations and an array of tropical fruits –banana, mango and papaya. 

 For the last few kilometres, the road levels out and you’ll approach Madagascar’s second largest city, Toamasina

Tamatave has many must-see tourist sites. Old Tamatave, Place Bien Aimé, the port of Tamatave or the northern coast and its idyllic beaches are all places to explore in this colorful city. You will enjoy these varied scenery, aboard a rickshaw, bicycle, quad …..

Day 9 :  TOAMASINA – FOULPOINTE

60 km north of Tamatave,foulpointe . The road is flat, quiet and rural with little traffic.

Day 10 : FOULPOINTE – MAHAMBO – SAINTE MARIE 

You will be driving very early today. You will experience the country waking up, seeing the farmers go to work, the students go to school. Housewives are already busy and the market traders build up their stands. You are aiming to reach the ferry to Nosy Boraha (Ile Sainte Marie). It is located at the pier of Mahambo. The bikes are loaded on the ferry. Before you leave, however, the registration has to be done, at the local gendarmerie office. The crossing takes about one or two hours depending on the weather.

Arriving on the harbor side of Nosy Boraha, you will swing back on the saddle for the last section of the day trip of today. From the road, you will turn into the access leading to the hotel.

Day 11 : SAINTE MARIE 

SAINTE MARIE DE MADAGASCAR is a hiker’s paradise. Whether on foot, by mountain bike, kayak or 4×4, we offer adapted outings, with a very wide variety of tracks and paths and sea trips. 

Your final day in the bycicle  will be one of mixed emotions!

A real treat as you cycle across and around much of this beautiful, virtually untouched island for the whole day. You will set off early, heading north and uphill towards Ankirihiry.

Day 12 : SAINTE MARIE 

During your walks you can completely immerse yourself in this paradise at the end of the world, fully experiencing the wide variety of its landscapes and the hospitality of the SAINTS MARIENS.

Its magnificent little paths under the coconut trees, along its white sand beaches and the tranquility of its small perched villages, all along its backbone will leave you with unforgettable memories.

Day 14: SAINTE MARIE – ANTANANARIVO

On the program for this day, your transfer to SAINTE MARIE  airport where you will fly to Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, the main departure point for international flights.

Our guide driver will welcome you at Ivato international airport, and will accompany you to the hotel where you will be installed.

Day 15: ANTANANARIVO – BACK HOME

Our accompanying driver supports your transfer to the airport according to the schedule of your flight to your country of origin.  He will stop at the craft market on the road to the airport to allow you to buy beautiful souvenirs of your trip to the Big Island through small handicrafts that represent the country.
